Sopra Steria at the International Space Summit 2026

September 9 and 10, 2026, Sopra Steria takes part in the International Space Summit, held at the Grand Palais in Paris. The event is set against the backdrop of the French presidency of the European Space Surveillance and Tracking programme (EU SST), which monitors objects in orbit to protect satellites and anticipate collision risks.
The Summit brings together the global space community in all its diversity: heads of state and government from 120 invited countries, public and private players, civil society and the scientific community.
The space sector is going through a period of deep transformation: orbital congestion and security, European technological sovereignty, and the growing role of defence. Europe is investing around €200 million in initial studies for the IRIS² connectivity programme, while the ESA-led ERS programme (European Resilience from Space) mobilises around €1.2 billion to federate national capabilities.
In this landscape, Sopra Steria has a role to play as a technology orchestrator: connecting the different constellations, aggregating the data they produce, and building services at European scale.
Our session: "Space and non-space industries"

The space economy is becoming a topic for the whole of industry. How can non-space industries be brought into it, and how can the sector move from a programme-based logic to an industrial one? This session explores the cross-fertilisation between space and non-space industries: technologies developed for banking, telecoms and energy, such as cloud, AI and cybersecurity, are increasingly reused in space operations, while satellite imagery and other space capabilities already support agriculture, disaster response and insurance far beyond the space sector.
Beyond cross-fertilisation, the panel will also address interoperability and federated capabilities: whether European sovereignty comes from owning every component, or from the ability to connect them.
