Paris, June 21, 2024 - Sopra Steria, a major player in the European tech sector, and the CEA, a major player in technological research and innovation, have announced their intention to form a strategic alliance in the defence and security sector.

Building on their long-standing relationships of trust and collaboration, notably via CS Group, a subsidiary of Sopra Steria, in the fields of nuclear power, defence and high-performance computing, the two partners have decided to sign a letter of intent, a first step towards a strategic partnership, at Eurosatory 2024.

By combining their strengths, skills and complementary technological expertise, Sopra Steria and the CEA intend to jointly develop innovative and competitive solutions with high added value in advanced systems with a strong digital component.

Technologies covered include advanced electronics, application software, artificial intelligence, secure and trusted cloud computing, combat cloud, detection, secure communications, and instrumentation. In addition, areas such as digital engineering, safety, command and control (C2) systems, post-quantum cryptography and cybersecurity may also be addressed. This approach will initially cover the defence and security sector, and should subsequently be extended to other areas, including space, aeronautics and nuclear energy.

Benoît Chatelain, Defence Global Account Manager for the Sopra Steria Group, commented: "This strategic alliance with the CEA represents a tremendous opportunity for Sopra Steria to strengthen its technological leadership and its presence in strategic markets, such as defence and security, thanks to cutting-edge solutions. By combining our respective strengths, we will be able to offer our public and private customers the best digital solutions on the market”

Maria Faury, Director of Partnership Strategy at the CEA, added: "We are delighted to seal this major partnership with Sopra Steria. By combining our technological, scientific and industrial strengths, we have a powerful lever for developing innovative breakthrough solutions for defence and security”.

The two companies plan to draw up a detailed work plan to implement this strategic alliance, which promises great synergies and major growth opportunities.
