Sopra Steria has committed to set emissions reduction targets consistent with the global effort to keep temperatures well below the 2-degree threshold and aligned with the key goal of 2015 Paris Agreement (COP 21).
Sopra Steria is one of 200 companies worldwide who are officially committed to SBT and currently in the process of achieving this.
Engagement in this initiative demonstrates the Group's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its activities and to offer services to its clients that support a low carbon economy.
A partnership between CDP , WRI, WWF and the UN Global Compact, the Science Based Targets initiative works with companies to set ambitious emission reduction targets. Businesses who commit have two years to set science-based targets, which are then closely reviewed by the initiative’s team of experts, who only approve those that meet strict criteria.
Targets adopted by companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are considered “science-based” if they are in line with the level of decarbonisation required to keep global temperature increase below 2 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial temperatures.
