Our environmental commitments

The Group’s environmental strategy is supported by a policy with seven priority areas of action:

• Rolling out ISO 14001 certification of the Group’s Environmental Management System across its sites,
• Optimising the use of resources and contributing to the circular economy,
• Increasing the proportion of renewable energy in total consumption, with the aim of having at least 95% of electricity consumed from renewable sources,
• Reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions,
• Protecting biodiversity,
• Engaging with the entire value chain,
• Integrating environmental concerns into customer value propositions. 

Sopra Steria endorses UN and EU objectives supporting the transition to a net‑zero emissions economy by 2050. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated the Group’s targets for reducing emissions from direct activities. The Group’s performance against these targets is independently audited every year. The Group also participates in the UN’s Climate Neutral Now programme in relation to its direct activities (offices, data centres and business travel) and has achieved climate neutrality for this scope. 
Sopra Steria's new "long-term" commitment, validated by the SBTi, aims to accelerate the decarbonization process of human activities by involving all value chains. The "Sopra Steria Net Zero 2040" standard allows the Group to continue reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its activities while limiting the compensation of residual emissions to 10%.
